Series 03
Not this, but one like it
There are images we’ve never seen before, yet somehow we recognize them. This happens with someone else’s old amateur photos: we don’t know those people or that party, and yet something comes to mind. Not that exact moment, but a similar one that we’ve experienced ourselves. My photographs stem from this feeling. A plate on the table, a row of bumper cars, an armchair in front of the game, a hotel room. I don’t seek them out: it just happens, like déjà vu. Something reminds me of something, and I take the picture. There’s no rule, nor a specific place. There are places, objects, and faces that act as a threshold. The viewer won’t see my memories, but their own: similar, different, equally real.
